Testimonies

Well, since it's been tough finding out what to write about, I decided to write about some things that I've seen God do for me. But maybe that'd mean I found out what to write about and don't have writer's block at the moment?

So, I'll take you back to before I got baptized...about 4 or 5 years ago. All of us teens (back then, although some are still teens) were and still are really close. We used to go down to the river every summer and enjoy its icy cold water that was very refreshing (But not very clean, if I may say so myself) on the hot summer days. I have very good memories of those years down at the river, and also some scary memories. As most of you probably know, rivers are pretty dangerous places to swim, because of under-toes, random logs floating down, rope swings, and all the other unknown objects that we don't see. Well this one day, all of us decided to go down to a different part of the river where there was a rope swing to swing into the river with. Now, this rope swing was dangerous, very dangerous. And at the time, I don't remember if we even realized it then. On the rope there was another thin rope for you to hold onto as you climbed up a little hill so you could jump off. If you didn't have this other rope hanging off the other rope, you wouldn't be able to reach it from where you were suppose to push off from. This was dangerous because the thin rope could easily wrap around your leg as you swung from the little hill, and hang you from your leg above the water, upside down(Which I think might've happened to one of the teens or was close to happening, and ended up with a rope burn).
So, we played on this swing for a while before anything really happened. And then when it was my turn to swing off the hill (or maybe I should call it a little cliff?) the thin rope got wedged in between the steps that you climbed up on the tree, and push off from there. Well, of course, I didn't know it got wedged as I pushed off the tree, and so the rope swung me around the tree and bumped me off. Oh yes, I forgot to mention, down below me were large(or what seemed very large to me) river rocks until you reached the water. Of course it all happened really fast, and I didn't have time to correct myself to land on my feet. I landed on my left hip and elbow, and managed to somehow keep my head from hitting any rocks. I really couldn't remember hitting the ground..I must've blacked out or something because when I was all of a sudden on the rocks and my hip and elbow were really numb, and was screaming.
The teens (3 of my brothers and my friend and her brother)up above me scrambled their way down to me and managed to get me up on a bench to wait for someone to come pick me up. (None of us were old enough to drive yet.)
Now, I think this is my favorite part of this whole deal. Once the boys got a hold of one of my brother(Jordan) to come pick me up, he headed to come get me. Well, on his way over his car got overheated and he had to stop. My oldest brother (Philip)was on his way (no one knew this) to come check on us and bring us snacks, because he heard we were down there. So, it worked out that Philip could bring me home quickly before any of the people down at the river called 911 on us. Not only did that work out, but it also worked out that mom was able to come home from work to be with me. She was working at the library (and was going to be there till later that night) and the substitute happened to walk in the moment she got the call and she was able to leave.
Thankfully I didn't brake any bones. My elbow was so banged up that I couldn't straighten it for a couple weeks and my hip just got really bruised and was hard to walk on for a while. Although every once and a while my hip will hurt, but I guess that helps me to remember everything that happened that day and how much love I saw from the brethren. Through that whole thing I saw a lot of really amazing things God did.

Anyways, sorry for the long detailed story, but it kinda helps me to remember what happened.

Writer's Block

Photobucket
Well, as you can all tell, I'm sure, that I've really got nothing to write about lately...and I've noticed a few of the other sisters haven't had a lot to say either. Maybe we're all having writer's block? Hehe, or maybe we're all just busy with things in our life and haven't had a chance to relax and sit down for a few minutes?
Anyways, I've noticed some of the sisters and young ladies blogs I've been reading and lurking on have decided to block their blogs to the public..what's up with that? =/ That's kinda a bummer not being able to read those blogs anymore. -sigh- Oh well, I guess thats all I've got to say for now. I know it's probably not worth a post, but oh well!

Oh annnd, I put up some blinkies! Go take a look. =)

Chivalry

Photobucket
Now, lately I've been watching how men treat women in public, and it's actually very interesting. I guess I just like to watch and see what guys do when a lady is entering a room, leaving a room, looking for a seat, and whatever else. I don't see it very often when I'm shopping or in a public building, but when I see it, it puts a smile on my face. I hear so much that Chivalry is dead, but if we saw it all the time maybe we wouldn't appreciate it as much or give it much thought when a man did a chivalrous deed? Now, I'm not saying men are bad if they don't open the door for a lady, or get out of their seat for a lady, I'm just saying I like to watch what they'll do.
I've noticed when sisters come to a visit at someone's house, that a bunch of the young men get out of their seat and give it to the sister. And then I watch how the sisters take care of the brothers in return by making sure they've each got a drink, and are comfortable and have enough dessert to eat. But I don't notice men doing this a whole lot in public.
So, what happened to chivalry? Why is everyone saying its now 'dead'? Is there a way women are chivalrous too? Or is chivalry only a man thing?
Anyways, I don't really know what my point was, but its just some things I've noticed the last few weeks and its very interesting to me. And hopefully it doesn't come across that I sound bratty, or think men HAVE to be Chivalrous, that's not at all what I meant for it to sound like.

Easter!

We had a nice Easter this year. Well...we always have a good Easter, but the last couple years has been pretty calm..no kids running and doing an Easter egg hunt, because all the 'kids' have grown up and are now in the faith. But this year has been the first (or maybe second) year that we've done an Easter egg hunt in a long time. It was pretty exciting to see the kids run around not really understanding (except for the 2 older girls) what they were doing. I didn't get a whole lot of pictures, because there were a few other people that were taking pictures at the same time, so i just stood and watched this time. :)

And instead of doing lunch after church, we did a brunch, which if I may say so myself, was very scrumptious indeed! There was every muffin imaginable, cinnamon rolls, fruit salad, eggs, ham, casseroles, potatoes. It was very yummy, ladies! :) And at the end, I got to hold my sweet little Maxie bear, whom I don't get to hold often, because of the crowds surrounding him, hehee! He sat very content in my arms while his mommy got a few things done in the kitchen with the ladies. And as you can see, he's starting to smile a lot now. He's just so sweet! <3 Anyways,Here are some pictures of the pictures I took!! =D
The two James'Abby and Grammy
James looks like he's guilty of something! Hehe, he was picking up these candies he dropped as both me and his Auntie snapped a picture of him. The flashes must've scared him because he started crying really hard after we took the picture. Silly boy! ;D Oh and notice the long string of slobber, lol.

20 years from now...

As I was getting lunch ready today, I was talking to the little girl I baby-sit and asking her how her day was at school. Well, as we got talking we got into more 'serious' stuff. Such as, what she wanted to be when she grew up, how many kids she wanted and so on and so on. (she brought it up)As she was telling me how many kids she wanted, she told me that she wanted me to be her kids' baby-sitter, because I'm 'such a silly silly, and a good cook, and the nicest baby-sitter in the whole world and I love you'. I about died laughing. I quickly told her thanks, but that I was going to be very old by the time I baby-sat her kids and that I'd have a very hard time of chasing them around with a cane if I was an old granny. Naturally, that made HER laugh at me and she of course she kept insisting that I'm the only baby-sitter that her kids will ever have whether I'm and old lady or not.

So, I guess in 20 years I for sure have a job if she gets married and has kids! lol. Anyways, just thought that was cute.

Sisters Getaway

Yippee, its almost that time of year for us to get away and plan our big summer camp meals!! Now I won't say where or when we're going, but I'm so excited! We usually try and find a new house every year, but since my best friend and her mommy couldn't make it last year, we decided to go back to the house we stayed at last time(Which is by far my favorite so far). We so enjoy these getaways that we go even when we have no reason other then just wanting to getaway for a bit with the ladies. One year we got together with the sisters in Idaho, so that they could help with some of the planning, and that was alot of fun. Not only did we plan, but we told each sister (from here and in Idaho) to come to the getaway with something new to teach us, that they know how to do. They taught us to make cute magnets for our refrigerators, how to fold napkins, how to crochet, sing a song we never heard before, memorize certain rocks, and a few other things. I didn't end up teaching anything because I was too shy, and I didn't want to teach anyone how to Scandi dance...that's kinda hard with a bunch of girls and no guy partners, heeheehee! Anyways, I've very much looking forward to spending time with the sisters(and the little nephews ;) ) for the weekend! And having Brittany and Sis. D be there this time is the best part!! Can't wait!

Dropping like flies

Oh yes, everyone is getting sick over here. This sickness seems to come on you REAL fast. The whole day you'll be absolutely fine, until at night you all of a sudden are totally sick. It's very strange stuff. All my brothers that are still living at home have it and now mom does...now it's poppi's turn. =/ Hopefully that doesn't happen. And so far, no one has gotten the bad chest cold thing where they can't breathe...let's keep it that way. Some of the other brethren are getting it too, so it might be a small crowd tomorrow night at church. =o

So, tomorrow is back to work for me! I'm kind of looking forward to it. I don't like getting stuck in the house all day watching movies, even though when I'm not sick, I'm longing to be at home sick and on the couch watching movies all day, hehe.

He hears our prayers

On Friday, I was slowly getting a light stuffy nose, and as the weekend went by, it started getting worse. I was coughing the next day, and my nose was so stuffy I could hardly taste food. Well, sunday morning, I woke up, and my cough had gotten worse, and my chest felt really heavy. It seemed like by the hour my chest and cough got worse and worse. Worse meaning, I could hardly breathe, it felt like my air passage was getting smaller and smaller. I hadn't mentioned it to anyone until, it got bad, and I started to get worried. I first asked for the elder of the church to come pray for me, and when he left I was still struggling to breathe, and couldn't calm down. I really just thought that this must be the end for me, that I wasn't going to live through the rest of the night, and trying to have a good heart about it, but I was extremely scared. I just kept begging God to come to my rescue, to either take me away or just give me a little bit of relief.

Soon after the elder left, mom had text messaged all my brothers and Bro. Danny and Sis. Kristen to come pray for me, they all dropped what they were doing, and came over. By that time I was breathing short, wheezy breaths. After they each got down and prayed for me, not 10 minutes later I was breathing a little slower, and my air passage was getting a little bigger for me to really breathe. The rest of the night last night I didn't have any problems breathing, and still don't today. My fever broke last night, and I'm finally coughing up stuff that I couldn't do yesterday. It was just really sweet to me to see them all crowd around me and get on their knees to pray. And no doubt God heard everyone of their prayers (even the ones that weren't able to make it there, because of how sick I was).

Last night as I was trying to sleep, it felt like the adversary was trying to make me doubt what God did that for me and I kept yelling at him, that God DID do it for me. Everytime I woke up, I'd have the same dream over and over. So,hopefully now that my fever is gone I won't have anymore repetitive dreams like that, and hopefully I'm on the road to recovery. =)

1 ply tissue

My poor nose, I think it found out the hard way that you don't use 1 ply toilet paper tissue to for your runny nose. No sireebob. It felt like sand paper scraping my nose raw.(that may be a little dramatic, but it hurt) I was at a visit last night, and there was no nose tissue in sight, so thats why I had to use toilet paper.

Now before you use 1 ply tissue on your poor unsuspecting nose, check the layers of the tissue, then check the softness, and then apply to nose IF (and only if )the tissue is soft, and layered nicely. And don't try and layer the 1 ply tissue on top of another 1 ply tissue, because it won't work. The sand papery tissue still feels like sand paper no matter how many times you layer it. If you've mistakenly used the sand paper tissue, simply apply your chapstick with your finger to your nose.

Wow, this should be on WikiHowto of the day!

Musicals

Don't you just love the old musical movies? I do!! I know I'm probably a dork, but I've been listening to the 'My Fair Lady' sound track all week. Some of my most favorite songs my poppi sings around the house are on that movie...songs he made up words to, but kept the tune.
The movie above is my favorite song, annnnd the song that got me the nickname Raine in spain. There are some other great musicals...like "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" (Reminds me of my brothers..too funny), "West Side Story"(They have the best dance moves in one scene), "Wizard of Oz" (Love the shoes and munchkin song), "Singing in the Rain"(Love the song singing in the rain...), "Little Mermaid"(I know its not THAT old, but it's my favorite disney musical ;) ), and a few others by Shirley Temple and Judy Garland...and Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.
Anyone else like old movies? =o I know this post was pointless, but frankly, I don't have a whole lot to talk about lately. =B

Tea Birthday Party

We're making weird faces because we both though we kept taking pictures that made it look like we had triple chins, so we were trying to cover it up! lol we're dorks.

Seems like we've been partying down all month! There are a lot of birthdays this month, so its been crazy. But last night we had a ladies tea birthday party for 3 of the sisters. (one is a visitor from Idaho! ;D) It was a lot of fun. We just enjoyed each other company and ate dinner and drank tea. Brittany was even able to be there with us! We had the party at her house and she was actually able to sit up at the table to eat. Something I haven't seen in months...
I took a ton of pictures last night! For Sis. Charlotte's b-day present, I got her a big picture frame so that I could put pictures of all us sisters in Oregon in it. So, I thought I'd post some of the pictures so you can see! =)From left to right: Jame, Abigail, Mommy and Maxie Bear (in front)
Sis. Charlotte and Max-Sigh- This is Maxie Bear! What a sweet little man! I'm still SO in love with him. He looks so much like his dad, its cuuuute!!!

Picture of the sisters at Brittany's table. =)

Prince Charming

I think every little girls dream is to find her one true love - her prince Charming one day. Some man that'll sweep her off her feet and live happily ever after with. The one man that could wake you with the 'true loves kiss'. It'd be easy to just fall asleep and not wake up until you get your 'true loves kiss', but obviously I can't just fall asleep for years and years and wait like sleeping beauty did, or snow white. As I lay in bed at night, I can't help but wonder when my Prince Charming with sweep me off my feet, or if I'll even have a Prince Charming. And to my shame, I started to become a little impatient with all the waiting for my man. But then, as I lay in bed praying that God will send me someone someday, I remembered that I DO have my prince Charming right now. The Prince of all Princes. The one man I can't live without, the man that has always been at my side in my hard times and in my good times. The one man that'll never leave my side when things get tough, and who will be patient, kind, gentle, and loving AND my best friend. I have no doubt He knows my burdens and my cares, and hears all my cries, and no doubt he's picked that one man that'll be my Prince Charming (If I'm blessed with one) someday. So, I can be patient with whatever He has planned for me, but He'll always be my first and forever number one Prince Charming.

**Hehe, after I posted this, I noticed the last post I made down below, with all the silly pictures...I probably won't find my man posting pictures like that!

Church

Today we had a nice surprise at church. As I was sitting down and listening to some of the brethren chatting about different things, in rolls a girl I haven't seen in church for about 5 months! Yes, 5 months. Sis. Brittany came cruising in in her wheel chair! A lot of us didnt know she was going to try and make it, but it was an awesome just to see her smile as she came rolling in. She had a huge grin on her face, this is something shes waited to do since probably the time she got bad. So, today was a good day! God sure is amazing.
