CPR

I just got home from a long day of babysitting 3 little kids. I had alot of fun with them today. I taught Natalie how to write her name (she's going into kindergarten next week)! That was fun. :)
Let's see, next month my boss wants me to take a CPR class with her so that we both know how to do CPR on the kids. As probably most of you know that read this, that I had something happen while babysitting that needed CPR...but those of you that don't know about what happened, I will tell you:

So, I sat down to eat lunch with the 3 kids I babysit, and each of us had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and I cut up tiny pieces for the 1 year-and-a-couple-month-old baby. Everything was fine for a bit until the baby (Sarah) started to choke on the sandwich. She started to stuff her mouth full of the sandwich and wasn't chewing it. She totally stopped breathing and thankfully I was sitting next to her and saw that she stopped. Normally I'm getting the two older kids set up with a movie or a game while she's eating, (The kitchen and living room are connected, so I can keep an eye on her too)and if I hadn't been next to her, i would never have known that she was choking. She didn't make a noise. Her eyes just kinda got wide and she just stared at me like, "help!" I immediately got up and did the Heimlich on her but she still wasn't breathing, and I had only saw on a movie how to do that to someone. So I started patting her back, trying not to panic that this baby could die in my arms! She still didn't breathe. After that I really didn't know what to do, and then I remembered real fast that I didn't even pray! I just said "God have mercy!" and stuck my finger in her mouth and pulled out all the food she had stored up and as soon as I did that she started breathing again. Of course after all that was over she went straight back to eating her other food!
Later her parents got home and I remembered I had to tell them what had happened, and wasn't looking forward to it, because I thought I could probably lose my job for almost killing her. So i just said a little prayer and asked that God would just help them both understand, or at least not be mean to me. Basically the first thing the dad said was, if one of his kids had died with me and I had tried everything I knew to keep them from dying that they wouldn't blame me for it and they wouldn't be mean to me and would still keep me as a babysitter. And he said that it could've happened when his wife was there, and she wouldn't have known what to do herself.

Anyways, that was a long story, but i got to see alot of what God can do and that God answered my prayers really fast. So, now in september Sarah's mom and i are going to take the class. I'm never going to feed kids PB&J on white bread again. :)

Well, that's about all the news I've got for today. Tomorrow is the church car wash! Annnd tonight we've got company coming from Idaho, and on Sunday Larry is getting baptized! Yay! :D
